Frequently asked questions

How is a discount calculated?

Multiply the original price by the discount percent and divide by 100 to get the savings, then subtract from the original. A $80 item at 25% off saves $20 and costs $60.

Do stacked discounts add together?

No. A 30% discount followed by an extra 20% off is not 50% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price: $100 becomes $70, then $56, which is 44% off overall.

Is tax applied before or after a discount?

In the US, sales tax is charged on the discounted price you actually pay, not the original sticker price.
